A Day Wandering One of the World’s Most Beautiful Cemeteries

Follow me to one of the world’s most beautiful cemeteries…
Cementerio de la Recoleta | Buenos Aires, Argentina

El Cementerio de la Recoleta is a photographer’s dream with amazing photo ops at just about every turn.  According to Lonely Planet, “‘streets are lined with impressive statues and marble sarcophagi.  Crypts hold the remains of the city’s elite:  past presidents, military heroes, influential politicians, and the rich and famous.”

These photographs are the doors to enter the graves of the dead.
Some more “lock and key” than others, I certainly enjoyed the myriad of shots I was able to take that day…

I adore your comments (both positive & negative).
And I would love to hear which is your favorite Lock and Key Photo…

I write about simple living in order to help women dealing with the craziness of life find hope, even if it’s just an inch at a time. I believe we all need a reminder to stop, breathe, and enjoy the present for what it is, a gift to be enjoyed.

    1. THANK you for your comment!

i also took tons of photos of the various angels & other statues as well. i plan on adding them to another post in the near future, so stay tuned…

it was indeed an amazing place.

    1. THANKS!

i enjoyed capturing all the different locks in the cemetery. it’s amazing to see how some have been well cared for throughout the years whereas others are in a horrid state. if i had to pick one, i would say photo 3 based on its rare simplicity.

  1. Mom likes 8 and 9. Dad says Jesus Christ unlocked the door to death by dying for us on the cross. The door to heaven has been opened to all who believe by faith in Christ.

Love your pictures: thanks for sharing.
