Take 13 | Resourcefulness, At Its Best
a kid-made toy taken at an athletic field in a Nairobi slum

Whoever said kids have no imagination anymore should travel outside their little world…

While in Kenya, youngsters from the slums & beyond take to the streets to find scraps of their choosing and fashion them into many a toy.  From push cars (seen here) to pull toys to objects that spin, the ingenious work of these kids takes creativity and resourcefulness to the next level.

  1. Hi! The photo you posted about the ingenuity you saw is an incredible one! I would like to ask if you would consider giving my organization permission to use it in a elementary school assembly that addresses the topic of ‘kindness’ and ’embracing differences.’ In our assembly, there is discussion about the cultural uniqueness of children in Kenya, and their ingenuity as a part of that! This would be a perfect photo to share. Would you be willing to reach out to me, Brandon, at ? Thank you so very much! ~b
