And so it began…
The long, arduous journey from there to here.
And everything else in between requires a little more than short answer… It’s been 4 flights, 2 crazy commutes to and from the airport, and 1 nearly lost baggage to get here. With that, add 5 heaping tablespoons of wailing children and a pinch of 3 rambunctious teenagers discussing Jeremy’s cheap necklace purchase for his girlfriend (Jeremy, how could you?). And the cherry on top was a diverted flight to a random place I’ve never even heard of. How’s that for a killer trip?
If you want the nitty/gritty details, take a look at the venture:
Miami, Florida to New York, New York: 1089 miles
New York, New York to Brussels, Belgium: 3669 miles
Brussels, Belgium to Bujumbara, Burundi: 4016 miles
Bujumbara, Burundi to Nairobi, Kenya: 536 miles
And the total, you may be asking…
Hold your breath.
Can you handle 9,310 miles?
To top it off, this venture maxed out at 30 hours from start to finish.
Are you kidding me?
Let’s just say “exhausted” is putting it mildly… But as John (Pamoja Charity team leader) shared at our morning devotion, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
And it does ring true… With more than an inch of hope, I (and the team) have been given renewed vigor and a supernatural strength to start our African adventure off with a bang.
Until next time,
